Mr Blake engraves Fuseli’s Nightmare

We’re keeping to our houses,

We’re hiding in the dark;

Never now to wander out

Or canter through the park.

We sleep uneasy… fitful!

The cauchemars always near.

A ghostly hand or creepy sigh

Seems ever-present here.

Yet outside these mossy walls

Lurk monsters more alarming;

I wish that they would go and leave

Us creatures far more charming!
